// Air Pacific to install WEPPS fleet-wide //
Air Pacific is set to make significant cost savings as another customer to install STG Aerospace’s emergency lighting power system across its entire fleet.
The Wireless Emergency Primary Power System (WEPPS™) from STG Aerospace integrates wireless monitoring, real-time MEL diagnostics, and solid-state operation for managing and powering emergency lighting systems.
WEPPS uses new operating protocols and approved ‘fit-for-life’ non-rechargeable battery modules to replace conventional NiCad battery/charger packs, reducing operating costs by eliminating the emergency lighting system’s entire maintenance schedule. There is no need to maintain the WEPPS batteries and their lifespan is potentially for the life of the aircraft. As predicted, operators are reporting payback in less than twelve months.
Air Pacific, Fiji’s international airline, will be installing its first Boeing 737 WEPPS kit in April, with the balance of its B737, B747 and B767 fleet to follow on a planned schedule. The airline recently passed the stringent international IATA audit to be awarded IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) accreditation.
Peter Stokes, Chief Executive, STG Aerospace said: “Air Pacific shares STG’s vision of maximising safety while minimising operator costs. We’re beginning to see larger orders come in as more operators see the benefits of installing our innovative and patented system which combines improved safety with reduced outgoings – more appealing than ever in the current economic climate.”
STG has now received orders for WEPPS from customers in America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australasia. STG is expanding the range of aircraft for which WEPPS solutions are available with an extensive certification programme to secure STC’s for all of the most popular commercial passenger and freighter aircraft.
