NEWS & EVENTS

// STG announces record sales for SafTGlo //

STG Aerospace has announced record sales of SafTGlo, its market leading photoluminescent (PL) emergency floorpath marking system, in the first half of 2010.

Between January and June, sales of SafTGlo reached their highest recorded level over a six month period, with continued sales to existing international customers bolstered by two substantial fleet-wide orders. Low-cost Brazilian airline, Webjet Linhas Aéreas ordered SafTGlo kits for its entire fleet of Boeing 737-300 aircraft in March, while in June STG celebrated the delivery of its 6000th SafTGlo aircraft kit to Thai Airways International as part of the company’s largest ever fleet-fit order of SafTGlo aircraft kits.

Sales of SafTGlo from January to June 2010 were up 17 per cent on the same period last year and represent a 12 percent improvement on the company’s previous six month best performance. SafTGlo has proven popular amongst carriers worldwide due to the system’s ability to function independently of batteries and without wires or bulbs – simultaneously ‘storing’ and emitting high visibility light to provide emergency exit guidance for up to 16 hours in complete darkness after only a short period of ‘charging’ with normal cabin lights. As a result, the system offers a significant cost saving by virtually eliminating the need for maintenance. It therefore offers a reliable alternative to other older forms of emergency cabin lighting.

Peter Stokes, chief executive at STG Aerospace, said: “These sales figures show that in tough economic times, increased safety and cost savings can go hand in hand. It’s a win-win for operators. PL has now become the industry norm and the sales recorded by STG so far this year serve to show that airlines are turning to us as market specialists to provide the best product.”
