Accountable to the Director of Innovation, the Development Scientist / Engineer will perform the photometric and mechanical testing of lighting products and produce associated reports.
In addition, the Development Scientist / Engineer will also be required to assist in the creation and development of new products, including mechanical design activities. Training and Mentoring will be provided.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Supports the definition and delivery of designs that satisfy the project goal of delivery against the defined requirements
- Verification of product designs through laboratory testing
- Works to ensure all engineering project deliverables meet their quality, design budget and delivery targets
Experience of operating in an engineering or scientific environment Demonstrable problem solving skills Experience of working to tight timescales, to meet key exacting deadlines Understanding of Health & Safety compliance
Some 2D and 3D CAD / Solidworks experience preferable Experience of Adobe packages, especially Illustrator CC Aerospace exposure/awareness Degree qualified in relevant technical competency or equivalent experience in an appropriate field Requiring limited supervision with good personal time management Flexibility in dealing with changing priorities Ability to work under pressure
