STG Aerospace is delighted to announce it has been nominated as finalists in two categories of this year prestigious Airline Passenger Experience (APEX) Awards. Increasingly considered the industry's foremost honour, with unrivalled authenticity, the committee have selected two of STG Aerospace’s latest innovations as contenders for the coveted prize.

Up first securing a nomination for Best Passenger Comfort Innovation is STG’s highly innovative liTeMood® LED reading light, an affordable plug and play replacement for Boeing 737 NG incandescent reading lights.

The passenger-centric lighting units feature a unique patented photometric design that delivers a square light pattern which precisely defines the individual passenger space, while preventing the inconvenient light spill onto neighbouring passengers. In addition to improving the overall comfort in the cabin, liTeMood® LED reading lights feature the optimal colour temperature which dramatically improves the appearance of products by allowing colours and produce to appear clear, vivid and more appealing to purchase, whilst at the same time creating the best possible reading environment by removing hot spots and reducing glare on tablets and magazines.  At an airline operational level, liTeMood® LED reading lights are over 10 times more reliable than incandescent lights and offer a significant power reduction to increase the aircraft electrical efficiency.

Secondly securing a nomination for Best Cabin Innovation is saf-Tglo® blu, the world’s first blue-glowing photoluminescent floor path marking system. Based on the proven technology of the original and market-leading saf-Tglo® range, the unique and patented design of saf-Tglo® blu shifts from the traditional green glow to a relaxing cool blue glow to enhance the cabin aesthetics without compromising passenger safety.

saf-Tglo® blu meets the same critical regulatory performance standards as all saf-Tglo® systems and offers airlines and interior designers a new solution to improve cabin aesthetics by providing a pleasing blue glow in low light or dark conditions.  This makes it ideal to blend with airline branding colour schemes and to harmonize with the latest LED mood lighting systems.

Nigel Duncan, STG Aerospace’s Chief Executive, commented:

“This is a great example of how STG Aerospace continues to invest in product development and beautifully bridges the gap between critical safety performance and cabin aesthetics. Since 1995, we have led the field in the development of photoluminescent aircraft lighting - offering the best-in-class solution in terms of performance, design and through-life costs. We’re excited to be nominated as finalists for both these great accolades, and are very much looking forward to attending this prestigious event in Singapore later this month”
