Bright Lights: EEMS Team
In our Bright Lights series, we showcase our brilliant employees and their experience of working here at STG Aerospace. This time, we're talking to our Emergency Exit Marking Systems (EEMS) Team to gain insight into their responsibilities and to understand what they value most about working at STG.
The Team
The EEMS Team is responsible for designing and developing new photoluminescent products. They also offer technical support to OEM and airline customers, as well as internal departments such as Operations, Sales & Marketing, and Quality Assurance. The EEMS team plays a vital role in driving innovation and pushing the boundaries of our photoluminescent offerings to better serve our customers. Led by Dr Andy Hallett, the team includes Tracy Vyas-Middlecoat, R&D Scientist, Megan King, Lead Designer, and Rebecca Jackson, Junior Designer.
Megan shared: “Our team ensures the seamless operation of our floor path marking products throughout their entire lifecycle. Rebecca and I focus on customer-facing design requirements, while Andy and Tracy concentrate on research, testing, and operational aspects.”
Together, they help us maintain our reputation as industry leaders and innovators in Emergency Exit Marking Systems, to help keep aerospace passengers safe.
Key Projects
Tracy noted “We are currently working on several exciting initiatives.”
For example, the most rewarding project for Tracy is the “Eco Everything” concept. "Last year, we introduced the first sustainable floor path marking saf-Tglo eco E1, utilising recycled materials and a bioadditive to eliminate the creation of long-lasting plastics at end of life. We are continuing to push the level of sustainability and applying it across our product range. It’s so satisfying to see our efforts in developing sustainable materials that maintain performance standards, supporting our customers’ sustainability goals."
Other projects aim to disrupt signage options and involve collaboration with teams across the Heads Up Technologies Group to incorporate insights from Business Aviation applications.
What is the best thing about working in the team?
The team unanimously agrees it’s “making a difference.” Whether filing patents for new product designs, coordinating evacuation testing to validate product effectiveness, introducing sustainable options, or designing new systems installed on aircraft to enhance passenger safety and experience, the team feel their work is meaningful to passenger safety and the broader aerospace industry.
Rebecca, who is relatively new to the role and industry, shared: “It’s very exciting to be part of a team with such extensive knowledge and experience, and to support customers with technical inquiries. Every day offers new challenges. The variety keeps it fun!”
The team is integral to STG Aerospace, blending technical expertise, innovation, and industry standards for Emergency Exit Marking Systems. Andy adds “Our reputation is built on our floor path marking systems, and ongoing innovation will ensure we continue to lead in this field.”
