Unveiling the Impact of AIX

Business Development Manager, Lynn Benham explains...

In the far-flung world of aviation, industry events create the perfect opportunity to come together, launch new innovations, take the pulse of the industry and develop relationships with customers. We spoke to our Business Development Manager, Lynn Benham, about the importance of the upcoming Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX), 28-30 May 2024,and what she is looking forward to most.

Lynn has attended AIX twice before in different STG roles and is looking forward to her third show, this time as a Business Development Manager.

AIX is the most important event of the year for STG, and bringing such a diverse array of industry experts all under one roof, makes it particularly special. Despite the industry’s global scale, it thrives on personal relationships and trust.

Lynn explains: “AIX is an event that creates unique synergy between customers, suppliers, and collaborators. The atmosphere is electric from the minute the doors open and you know you are going to see lots of familiar faces, which is always lovely. The interiors industry is vast, yet there is a real sense of community and shared passion. This event is a fantastic opportunity to meet face to face.”

We have regular communication with our customer throughout the year, yet we find in-person conversations build stronger relationships and are highly valuable. The STG team gets to hear about the issues airlines are facing first hand. This information helps us work collaboratively to create the best solutions. The team holds scheduled meetings at AIX to allow for detailed catchups with existing and potential customers, while the open-door nature of the event also encourages spontaneous discussions, that can lead to future partnerships.  This year we are excited to have a colleague from ALTO Aviation join us and share their audio expertise at AIX too.”  Read more about ALTO here.

Lynn explains that planning AIX attendance is a big project. The marketing and engineering / R&D teams coordinate the stand and demonstrations of products. Read more about the timeline here.

“The team does a great job in bringing our products to life and we always have a very welcoming stand for our customers, which is very important. The time whizzes by, so I’m always keen to make sure our customer meetings are as productive as possible, and it’s nice to bring a personal element to them.”

Post AIX

AIX doesn’t end with the closing of the expo doors. Lynn emphasises the importance of post-event follow-ups to build and maintain relationships. These include giving customers updates on any actions and exploring in detail how we can support with their specific emergency exit or cabin lighting requirements and challenges.

“The relationships created at AIX often become long-term customers, so it’s important that we deliver the high levels of customer service people rightly expect from us.”

Looking ahead to the 2024 event, Lynn is excited for the month ahead and is looking forward to a very exciting STG product launch at AIX!
