STG Aerospace launches ‘eco everything’ concept at AIX 2025

At STG Aerospace, we’ve always been pioneers in aircraft lighting solutions but with changing demands in the aerospace sector’s push to achieve net zero by 2050, eco solutions have become an area of focus. At AIX 2025, we will be introducing our ‘eco everything’ concept, which is a major step forward in making our product offering more sustainable without compromising on safety or performance.
Expanding sustainability across our product range
Following the success of our saf-Tglo® eco E1™, the world’s first sustainable emergency floor path marking system launched at AIX 2024, it was a priority to take our learnings from the development of the first innovation. The journey of creating saf-Tglo® eco E1™ taught the team a lot about sustainable materials, how to effectively test if the product was as robust as the original version and details about the lifecycle of the product. You can read more about the process in a previous blog.
By the end of 2025, we’ll be rolling out sustainable materials across our entire saf-Tglo® SSUL-X™ photoluminescent range, making eco-friendly solutions accessible to all our customers. This will apply across all four widths of saf-Tglo® SSUL-X™ (11mm, 18mm, 23mm, and 36mm), offering greater choice with a lower environmental impact due to the bio additive to eliminate forever plastics at end of life.
After a year of working with saf-Tglo® eco E1™ and more testing, we have successfully increased the recycled content from 50% to over 80%, and we have set an ambitious target of reaching 100% in the next phase of the innovation. Our recycled materials are ISCC-certified, ensuring the highest environmental standards.
With our saf-Tglo® products operating on more than 10,000 aircraft with 300 airlines, we are excited to offer our customers more sustainable products that will not compromise on safety, durability, or the cabin aesthetic.
Supporting the sector’s net zero goals
By embedding sustainability into our emergency floor path marking systems, we’re helping airlines and OEMs to achieve their environmental targets while maintaining the highest standards of safety and aesthetics.
Through the launch of eco everything, we are making eco the standard for all our photoluminescent products and contributing to the shared and urgent goal of net zero. As part of this initiative, we have also reviewed our product packaging and implemented significant improvements to make this more sustainable too, as explored in our previous blog, so we are doing what we can to improve all steps of the supply chain. By aligning our expertise and approach to innovation with sustainable goals, we’re playing our part in driving the shift towards a greener future for aviation.
Aside from our product offering, we have incorporated a wider initiative to make a more significant environmental impact by extending our collaboration with Ecologi. For every length of sustainable saf-Tglo SSUL-X sold, Ecologi will plant one tree, allowing our customers to contribute directly to global reforestation efforts. With real-time satellite tracking, customers be able to see the difference they are making.
We’re excited to showcase ‘eco everything’ alongside our latest innovations from Heads Up Technologies, including the newest Passenger Briefing System and premium cabin audio solutions.
